Steven Ellison, better known as Flying Lotus or more affectionately Fly Lo, has been doing his thing in the beat scene for over a decade, but before his rise to fame as LA's avant- garde surrealist beat king, he went to film school. Merging visual and sonic pleasures is a thing artists tend to due, but few incorporate it so well at this level.
Later this month, the Flying Lotus-scored documentary LoveTrue premieres at Tribeca Film Festival. Executive produced by Shia LaBeouf and directed by Alma Hat'el, the documentary illustrates the story of three real-life relationships. The trailer premieres today for LoveTrue, which features some of FlyLo's original music. In it, several of the film's subjects, including children, musicians, and dancers, discuss their experiences with love. Watch it and see the documentary's poster below.
